French Horn

The French horn, or horn, is a mello, mid to high pitched instrument in the brass section. French horns are used in concert bands and orchestras, while marching bands sometimes use a marching version called a mellophone. These circular horns have a conical mouthpiece which players press against their lips. When air is blown into the instrument, the lips vibrate against the mouthpiece causing sound waves. There are "single" horns in F for students and "double" horns that change between F and Bb for more experienced players.
