Tenor Saxophone

The tenor sax is a mid to low-pitched saxophone keyed in Bb (B flat). This instrument uses a single reed attached to a chambered mouthpiece to create sound. Air blown into the mouthpiece flows across the reed causing it to vibrate and produce sound waves. Saxophones were created to produce a bright, projective tone like brass instruments but with the response and expression of a woodwind.

My music is the spiritual expression of what I am — my faith, my knowledge, my being...When you begin to see the possibilities of music, you desire to do something really good for people, to help humanity free itself from its hangups."
- John Coltrane
